FLG Hotkeys Changelog
2025.08
- PowerPoint:
- Fixed an issue in the Slice Shape function that caused new slices to be layered incorrectly on top of other objects.
- The Distribute Horizontally/Vertically functions now toggle between “width/height-based” and “centerpoint” modes. “Width/height-based” mode is the original method and gives equal spacing between the slide boundaries and each of the objects. “Centerpoint” mode distributes shapes across the slide based on their centerpoints rather than their dimensions.
- When exporting images for PPTs whose file names begin with PDX-#, DDX-#, CDX-#, or RDX-# (where “#” is any number) and Exhibit Stamps have been used in the slide deck, the name of the exported images will match the Exhibit Stamp.
2025.05
- Fixed a bug in the PowerPoint Add-In where exporting slides to PPT could generate a spurious “The specified value is out of range.” error for some files.
- Removed the
Ctrl+' shortcut to generate a Right Single Quote character (&rsq;).
- PowerPoint Ribbon:
- Added Paste to All function to paste clipboard to all slides.
- Added Export Deck as Shuffled PPT option to shuffle the current slide deck into a new Presentation with random order. The first slide is always kept as the first slide.
2024.07 (2024-12-10)
- PowerPoint:
- New Per-Document Style Overrides are now available. Documentation will be forthcoming.
- Centering a shape vertically within a slide frame now takes into account the slide's Title area. In addition, if an object named "Footer" is found on the Slide, in its Layout, or on the Master, the footer's size and position is also taken into consideration for alignment. Subsequent invocations of the function will toggle between “title/footer-aware” and “slide-bounds” alignment modes.
- Note: The search order for a "Footer" element is Slide > Layout > Master, and the first match found is the one that is used.
- Slice Shape has reduced slice overlap and now defaults to ungrouped slices. Holding
Shift will cause the resulting slices to be grouped.
- Updated the Ribbon exporter functions to remove version numbers from Exchange PDFs, fixed an error that could be caused by extra spaces in a document's file name, and preserve PPT document properties when exporting slides.
2024.06 (2024-08-25)
- Multi-Window Scroll changes:
- Activation is now toggled with
Win+PageDown (this allows Esc to still be used while Multi-Scroll is active).
- While editing text in PowerPoint, the
PageDown, PageUp, Home, and End keys will not activate Multi-Scroll.
- PowerPoint:
- New Slice Shape hotkey:
Alt+L, Ctrl+Alt+L. Prompts the user for number of slices and divides the selected shapes into that number of slices with a slight overlap. The default configuration slices into rows and the Ctrl variant slices into columns. Useful for creating multi-line highlights. Hold Shift to prevent grouping of slices at the end of the operation.
- Fixed a bug in the Framing tool that caused a frame to always be sent immediately underneath the shape it framed, even if it was already below the target shape, causing highlights and other markup to be hidden by the framing element.
- PowerPoint Add-In:
- The Export Exchange-Ready PDF utility now prompts the user for whether to include hidden slides in the exported PDF if they are detected in the presentation.
- The Slide and Deck Export utilities no longer attempt to “smart rename” exported files when the source document has an exhibit number in its file name.
- Single-slide image exports now zero-pad based on the number of slides in the original deck so that files will be sorted properly.
2024.05 (2024-05-15)
- New system-wide hotkey: Multi-Window Scrolling: Select multiple windows that will respond to
PageUp, PageDown, Home, and End keys, allowing scrolling through multiple windows simultaneously. To use:
- Activate the multi-scroll Window Selection Mode with
Win+PageUp or Win+PageDown.
- Press
Space to toggle the active window for multi-scroll. Select as many windows as desired by clicking on them and pressing Space.
- Once all desired windows are selected, press
Enter to commit the selection and begin Multi-Window Scrolling. All presses of PageUp, PageDown, Home, and End will be sent to all selected windows.
- At any time, press
Win+PageUp/Win+PageDown to go back to Window Selection Mode.
- Press
Esc to cancel the selection and exit Multi-Window Scrolling.
- PowerPoint:
- Hotkeys that change shape sizes now scale the shape from its center rather than the top left corner.
- Fixed a bug where
Win+Alt+Shift+Down was not centering shapes on the slide.
- Title Case: Increased timeout thresholds in an attempt to prevent issues when PowerPoint is slow to respond.
2024.04 (2024.03.06)
- PowerPoint Add-In:
- New Animation Re-Timer button, which allows delaying a range of Animation cues by a specified number of seconds.
- Note that we cannot detect which cues are selected in the Animation Pane (thanks, Microsoft!), so specifying the range of animations is done by entering the first and last Index numbers that the animations correspond to in the Animation Pane list (starting with 1). When entering a starting value, the ending value will automatically be set to the end of the current "With Previous" sequence of Animations.
- Delays can be set above the normal 59 second threshold and appear to work just fine.
- A few UI cleanups and minor bug fixes. Mixed HiDPI scaling on multiple displays causes problems with popup windows, so now all popups will be anchored to the top left of the current PowerPoint window.
- Adobe Acrobat / Foxit PDF Reader:
- Added a new Crosshairs Overlay feature. When holding
Ctrl+Alt, large crosshairs will appear, providing a clearer indicator of what will be included in a Snapshot.
- FLG Hotkeys:
- Added a Tools section to the FLG Hotkeys settings menu with a new Run System Integrity Check entry. The System Integrity Check requires Administrator access and runs the built-in
DISM and SFC utilities. Running this check every month or two will help ensure that Windows is running smoothly.
- Fixed a UI bug introduced in the 2024.03 update that prevented checkmarks from being cleared when toggling options off in the Settings menu.
2024.03 (2024.02.14)
- PowerPoint:
- New hotkey to Align Vertically and Horizontally to Key Object:
Alt+Shift+Down. (This hotkey combines the behaviors of the Alt+Shift+Left and Alt+Shift+Up functions into a single hotkey for convenience.
- System:
- Added a Disable File Explorer Preview Pane option to the FLG Hotkeys System Tray settings menu. The Preview pane can cause errors when opening documents in certain applications, including PowerPoint, so this setting remedies those errors by disabling the Preview pane feature entirely.
Note: This option requires that you authorize as an Administrator, so it will display a Windows UAC prompt when you request to change this setting. After changing the setting, a system reboot (or restart of explorer.exe) is required for the change to take effect.
2024.02 (2024-02-05)
- PowerPoint:
- New hotkey to Rename Selected Shapes:
F2.
- A “#” character can be used as a placeholder anywhere in the new name and will be replaced by a sequence counter (shapes will be counted in the order they were selected).
- The PowerPoint built-in Toggle Text Edit Mode/Shape Selection feature on
F2 is remapped to F1 and the default PowerPoint “Help” panel activation on F1 is disabled.
- When a Group is selected and
Ctrl+3 is pressed to Hide Shapes, FLG Hotkeys attempts to hide only the top-level Group element. (Note that nested groups are not handled properly due to limitations in the PowerPoint API.)
- When grouping any shapes that have their Aspect Ratio Lock enabled, the new parent group will have its Aspect Ratio Lock automatically enabled as well.
- Fixed a bug where the Corner Radius and Jump to Slide input boxes would appear in the middle of the primary display instead of being centered on top of the active PowerPoint window.
- PowerPoint Add-In:
- When multiple slides are selected, exporting slides as a PPT now saves the entire selection as a single PPTX file (rather than as indvidual slides). To automatically open the new deck after it's saved, hold
Shift when clicking the button.
- Improved reliability and behavior of Select By Same Line function.
- FoxIt PDF Reader: Added alternate
Ctrl+Shift+N hotkey for Go to Page to match Acrobat behavior.
2024.01 (2024-01-09)
- PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In:
- Adds a Randomizer button to the PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In, which provides a method to randomly scale, move, reflect, and rotate selected Shapes. More information is available in the FLG Hotkeys manual.
- Adds a Select Same Type button to the PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In that selects Shapes based on their type (AutoShape, Graphic, Image, etc.).
- Adds a Shadow Knockout button to the PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In that changes the back-fill behavior of drop shadows on transparent Shapes.
- The Export Slide and Export Deck button groups can now output to a different location than the Desktop. Hold
Ctrl while clicking the button to be prompted for an output directory (default is the PPT’s location).
- Fixes a some bugs with the Select Same Fill/Line buttons, especially in relation to Groups.
- Additional hotstring and hotkey added for a "right single quote" (’) character:
'' (press single-quote key twice) and Ctrl+'+' (to match functionality present in Microsoft Word).
- Fixed a bug where Acrobat XI would not be detected on application launch, causing the Snapshot Resolution to not be automatically set.
2023.04 (2023-11-20)
- PowerPoint:
- Repeated use of the Wrap Frame Around Shape (
Ctrl+Alt+F) hotkey will now toggle between "loose" and "tight" framing.
- Changed Jump to Slide hotkey to now be
Ctrl+Shift+N to align it with the similar function in Adobe Acrobat. PowerPoint's native "Open New Window for Document" hotkey is now shifted to Ctrl+Shift+J.
- Fixed an issue with the Set Transparency hotkeys that would result in unexpected behavior if a Shape's Fill was set to "No Fill".
- PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In:
- The Select Same Fill buttons now properly detect gradient fills.
- The Select Same Fill/Line buttons now work if the selection context is inside of a Group.
- The Select Same Fill/Line buttons now remember the last-used selection criteria, which means that the same selection can be repeated across multiple slides without needing a copy of the source object on each slide.
- The Select Same Fill/Line buttons now consider more style criteria when determining a match, including: Fill Color, Fill Transparency, Fill Type, Line Color, Line Weight, and Line Dash Style. To ignore these new matching criteria, hold the
Shift key when clicking one of the Selection buttons. This will determine matching based on Fill and/or Line Color values alone.
2023.03 (2023-10-31)
- Transcript Processor: Improved detection of time codes and line numbers in realtime transcripts, and now ignores bullets at the beginning of lines.
- PowerPoint:
- New hotkey: Jump to Slide (
Ctrl+Shift+J): Prompts for a slide number and jumps directly to it.
- New hotkey: Replay Hotkey (
Shift+Esc): Plays back the most recently used FLG Hotkeys keyboard shortcut. Useful for binding to a mouse button to replay the previously-used hotkey. Currently only detects FLG Hotkeys functions (i.e., does not replay Ctrl+B when bolding text).
- New hotkey: Open Glow Options Panel (
Ctrl+Win+G): Opens the Glow options panel for the selected shape. Note that this may not work well on Windows 11 systems yet due to how the system intercepts Win+G hotkeys.
- New hotkey: Paste as JPEG (
Win+J): Pastes the clipboard to the current slide as a JPEG image.
- PowerPoint Ribbon Add-In:
- Added a new Export Deck button group which will export the entire slide deck as a flattened, exchange-ready PDF to the user's Desktop. Optional sub-buttons export the deck as an MP4 video at 720p60, 1080p60, and 4K60.
- Added a new Fix Proofing Language button which detects and fixes incorrect Proofing Language settings on all slides in a document. This should help alleviate the situations where text boxes (or portions thereof) get set to "French (France)" or other languages, resulting in erroneous spell check warnings.
- Addressed a race condition bug in the Exhibit Stamping and Slide Tag tools which could cause the process to fail with an error dialog.
- Fixed a bug in the Export Slide function that would cause the exported slide to have an incomplete file name if the slide deck had a demonstrative exhibit designation in its file name.
- Added a new Setting to the System category: Disable Undo in File Explorer, which can prevent accidental file movement or deletion by disabling File Explorer's undo history.
- Updated AutoHotkey and nconvert engines.
2023.02 (2023-05-16)
- PowerPoint:
- New hotkey for Distribute Shapes and Preserve Edge-to-Edge Spacing (
Win+Ctrl+Shift+D). Useful when distributing shapes that have different heights/widths.
- New hotkey for Bring PPT Slide Show to Front (
Ctrl+F12). Invoking this hotkey multiple times will cycle through all available PowerPoint Slide Show windows.
- Added
Ctrl+z hotkey to Go to last slide viewed in Slide Show (The original Ctrl+Backspace will also continue to work). Adding Shift to either hotkey continues to reset the target slide's animation sequence as before.
- Added blocking for Windows’s default “Create New Virtual Desktop” hotkey (
Win+Ctrl+D) so that it doesn't accidentally interfere with the distribution tools. This hotkey continues to work as expected outside of PowerPoint.
- The PPT Add-In's Export Slide function now intelligently uses exhibit number formatting if an exhibit number is detected in the file name, or if a slug (from Exhibit Stamping tool) is detected on the slide, the content of the slug is used as the exported file name instead. For instance, exporting a PNG of slide 4 from a PPT named “DDX-0003 (Smith Direct) v12.pptx” will result in “DDX-0003.4.png” being saved to the Desktop.
2023.01 (2023-02-08)
- PowerPoint:
- !! Changed the Gradient hotkeys to now be
Win+R/Win+Shift+R to avoid collision with the Xbox Game Bar utility, which cannot be disabled in Windows 11. The previous Win+G/Win+Shift+G hotkeys are now deprecated and may be removed in a future update.
- When a Shape with a Gradient Fill is selected, subsequent invocations of
Win+R will Reverse Gradient.
- New hotkey: Rotate Gradient:
Win+Ctrl+R – Rotates a gradient fill by 90°.
- New hotkeys: Activate Eyedropper:
Win+E/Win+Shift+E. Activates the Eyedropper tool for the current selection's Fill color. Holding the Shift key targets the border color. If text (or a textbox without a background fill) is selected, the text color will be changed instead of the shape fill.
- New hotkeys: Open Color Picker:
Win+C/Win+Shift+C. Opens the Color Picker dialog for the current selection's Fill color. Holding the Shift key targets the border color. If text (or a textbox without a background fill) is selected, the text color will be changed instead of the shape fill.
- Note: This hotkey overrides the previously-existing
Win+C hotkey, Copy Line Number Notation to Notepad, while PowerPoint is the focused application. The old hotkey still functions as expected outside of PowerPoint.
- New hotkey: Open Textbox Options Palette:
Win+Ctrl+O
- New hotkey: Open Shape Fill Palette:
Win+O
- New hotkey: Open Shadow Options Palette:
Win+Ctrl+S

- Improved behavior of Reset Picture & Size hotkey (
Ctrl+H) and should no longer accidentally activate the on-screen ruler interface.
- !! The hotkey for Auto-Crop Image on Clipboard has changed to
Win+Ctrl+C.
-
Transcript Processing:
- Improved detection of timecodes.
- OnCue "(Page X:X to X:X)" notation is now removed from transcript pulls.
- Potential bug fix for inconsistent clipboard state after Transcript Processing is used.
2022.05 (2022-11-02)
- PowerPoint:
- New hotkey to Wrap Frame Around Shape:
Ctrl+Alt+F. The first shape selected will be the shape to be framed, and subsequent shapes will be used as the frames.
- New hotkey to Insert Shape Into Frame:
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F. First, select the shape/image that will be the frame, then select the shape that will be inserted into the frame. The frame will not change width, but will scale vertically to properly fit the enclosed shape. To prevent the frame from changing height, use Win+Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F.
- Changed the hotkey for Fit to Slide to be
Win+Ctrl+F.
- New hotkey to Toggle Word Wrapping:
Ctrl+Alt+W. Any shapes that contain text will have their text wrapping mode toggled.
- Copy Image Crop and Paste Image Crop now work on video files as well as images. Note: There is a known bug in PowerPoint where the undo state isn't properly handled if you paste crop information on a video, then undo and re-do.
- If multiple images/videos are selected, Copy Image Crop uses the first selected object as a Key Object and applies its crop information to the rest of the selection.

^2: ², ^3: ³, sqrt: √, cubert: ∛.
- Office Key shortcuts have been disabled so that they don't interfere with FLG Hotkeys.

- Fixed an issue in the Add-In "Clear Notes" tool that could result in an empty bullet being left behind rather than completely resetting the Notes field.
2022.03 (2022-07-27)
- PowerPoint:
- When in Slide Show mode and displaying a Black or White blank screen, advancing out of the blank now activates the next/previous slide instead of just making the blanked slide re-appear.
- Added a button to the FLG Hotkeys Ribbon to Tag Slide Numbers. This function applies a slide number tag off the bottom right corner of all slides. This is useful for tracking previous version slide numbers while making edits. The Remove Stamps feature can remove these tags (and if the
Alt key is held down, only the Slide Number Tags will be removed).
- Fixed a bug in the Clear Notes function where an Undo entry was added for every affected slide. The function is now handled as a single Undo operation.
